More than $109,000 in grants have been awarded to various projects and programs across Genesee County in 2024, the Community Foundation of Greater Flint (CFGF) announced. These grants were distributed through the Foundation’s five endowed community funds, which serve the communities of Clio, Davison, Fenton, Flushing, and Grand Blanc.
The grants are the result of collaborative efforts by advisory committees who meet throughout the year to identify and support initiatives that will benefit their communities. Local volunteers use their expertise and community knowledge to review grant proposals and recommend funding for local nonprofit organizations.
Among the most recent grants awarded are a replacement of the Clio Amphitheater stage, improvements to Davison parks, the Hogan Road Kayak Launch in Fenton Township, support for the Flushing High School Band, and the Parents as Teachers program in Grand Blanc Community Schools.
These grants continue 33 years of sustained philanthropic efforts in Genesee County, with each fund established by residents.
“The dedication and passion of our local volunteers ensure that these grants truly make a difference in our communities,” said Jennifer Farrington, Senior Program Officer at CFGF. “Their insights are invaluable in guiding our efforts to meet the unique needs of each community we serve.”
The impact of these community funds continues to grow, thanks to ongoing donations and the establishment of new associated funds, which increase the financial resources available for local projects. Their growth also fulfills the Community Foundation’s mission to serve all of Genesee County.
