Our Commitment to Centering Humanity

At the Community Foundation of Greater Flint, we believe in every person's inherent worth. A simple but powerful idea guides us: Flint and Genesee County will thrive when everyone is seen, heard, and valued. 

Centering humanity means moving beyond the false hierarchy of human value—the notion that some lives matter more than others. We reject this thinking and affirm that dignity belongs to everyone, equally and without exception.

In 2019, our Board of Trustees affirmed this belief by embedding equity into our vision for Genesee County. Since then, we have deepened our work by listening to residents, investing in community-led solutions, and removing barriers that limit opportunity and well-being.

Centering humanity means holding space for every story. It means acknowledging pain while championing possibility. It also means working with the community to create a future where everyone has a real chance to thrive.
